Trauma & PTSD Counselling
Trauma therapy begins with safety, trust, and choice. Our counsellors offer a steady, compassionate space where you can move at a pace that feels manageable. Whether you are struggling with PTSD, childhood trauma, relationship trauma, or distressing life experiences, counselling can help you feel less alone and more supported. Sessions focus on understanding how trauma may be affecting your body, emotions, relationships, and sense of self, while building skills that help you feel more grounded and in control.
Trauma counselling is shaped around your needs, history, and level of comfort. Early sessions often focus on safety, stabilization, grounding, emotional regulation, and understanding how trauma responses may have developed as ways to survive overwhelming experiences. Depending on the therapist you choose to work with, our trauma-informed counselling may include somatic approaches, CBT, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and/or response-based therapy. Your counsellor will teach you tools for nervous system regulation, mindfulness, grounding and skills for recognizing triggers and staying present. When you are ready, counselling may also support trauma-specific work, including processing traumatic memories, reducing avoidance, working through shame or self-blame, while rebuilding connection and safety.
Healing from trauma is often gradual and should not be rushed. The goal is to reduce distress, strengthen safety, and help you feel more present, connected, and capable in daily life. Counselling can support improvements in emotional regulation, sleep, self-understanding, relationships, boundaries, and daily functioning. Over time, therapy may help you make sense of what happened, understand your responses with less shame, and move from survival mode toward greater stability, resilience, and choice.
